Mahj in the Pines started with something simple: two friends looking for a fun way to spend time together. What began as a casual idea over bubbly and plenty of laughs quickly grew into something bigger. With colorful tiles in front of us and the excitement of learning a new game, we realized we were creating more than just a hobby. We were building a way for people in East Texas to connect, relax, and find community.

Our vision is to make mahjong approachable for everyone, especially beginners who may feel unsure about the game. We believe anyone can learn enough to join in, have fun, and feel welcome. More than that, we wanted to create a space where getting together with friends becomes easy, joyful, and something to look forward to often.

At Mahj in the Pines you will find Mahjong 101 lessons for newcomers, seasonal leagues with a splash of competition, and playful social events filled with snacks, bubbly, and plenty of laughter.
